My Development Journey

I am a self-taught Web Developer who was born and raised in Australia. As a teenager I built two computers. I found I was good at the hardware side of computing but was always fascinated by the software aspect. I never persued it. Then when I was at college I began doing a lot of graphics design and that re-sparked my interest in working with computers. I eventually ended up doing some online courses, before enrolling in the Front-End Web Developer course with RMIT. Using these courses I taught myself how to program. I am passionate about learning and pulling things apart to figuring out how they work.

Skills

PROGRAMMING: I know HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript ES6. I am currently teaching myself jQuery and NodeJS with a firm committment to continually develop my programming skills.

COLLABORATION: In my previous career, I worked from home in collaboration with a small team. I am well accustomed to working with the Google suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.) as well as with conference call platforms such as slack, zoom and skype.

DESIGN: I'm always on the look out for great graphic design. I can take someone's mockup and implement it it into my project, as well as creatively imagining my own designs.

COMMUNICATION: In my previous role as a Youth Minister I spoke weekly in front of groups ranging in size from 15-150 people. I have given presentations in front of groups as large as 250 people.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have excellent customer service skills that I developed at an early age through my High School jobs at Caltex and Harvey Norman. I also have 2 years of hospitality experience.

My Commitment to You
